A floor is only as good as what's under it
Most flooring problems (squeaks, gaps, hollow spots, edges that lift) come from what's underneath. Every flooring installation in Victoria we take on starts with the subfloor: checking it for flatness, fastening loose areas, levelling low spots and choosing the right underlay or moisture protection for the room. Basements and concrete slabs get particular care, because moisture is the enemy of most flooring.
Hardwood, engineered, vinyl plank and laminate
We install the floors most homeowners in Greater Victoria are choosing today:
- Engineered hardwood: real wood on a stable core, well suited to our coastal climate and to basements.
- Solid hardwood: for main floors where you want a floor that can be refinished many times.
- Luxury vinyl plank: water resistant and comfortable, a strong choice for basements, kitchens and suites.
- Laminate: durable and practical for busy family spaces.
We'll help you weigh the options for each room. You supply the flooring, or we can work out materials with you as part of the quote.
Layout, transitions and stairs
We plan the layout before the first board goes down, so rows run straight through doorways, cuts at the walls are balanced and there are no thin slivers at a visible edge. Door casings are undercut so the floor slides beneath them cleanly. Transitions between rooms and materials are kept low and neat, and stairs get properly fitted treads and nosings.
Finished with new trim
A new floor usually deserves new baseboards. Because we also do trim and baseboard installation, we can remove the old baseboards, lay the floor and install new trim scribed to the finished surface, then paint it. No caulk lines hiding gaps, and no shoe moulding unless you want it.
